P&C - Community involvement

Our school values strong partnerships with our families and community. Parents and carers can get involved through our Parents and Citizens Association (P&C) or by volunteering at our school. Your time and support help make our school a better place for everyone.

Parents and Citizens Association (P&C)

Kotara South Public School has a strong and active Parents & Citizens Association (P&C).  The KSPS P&C is a group of parents and carers with students across all stages at Kotara South Public School.

As part of the NSW P&C Federation, we are committed to free public education for everyone, regardless of gender, cultural background, socio-economic status, and academic ability. The P&C supports parents, carers, and local community members to be a part of that process. We believe that educating our children is a joint responsibility between both parents and teachers.

Our mission statement is: For parents and carers to work in partnership with Kotara South Public School by promoting an atmosphere of community and mutual respect; and upholding the school motto ‘Strive to Achieve.'

Who is the KSPS P&C

We warmly welcome all parents, grandparents, and carers in our KSPS community to become involved in the P&C – it's a wonderful way to be involved in your child's education and support our school.  We also have an executive committee that carries out the decisions of the P&C. Vice President 1: (Canteen): Ryan Shepherd

Vice President 2: (Uniform): Alisha Peters

Secretary: Michelle Parsons

Treasurer: Rebecca Mitchison

Uniform Shop Coordinator: Angela Dwyer

Events and Fundraising Coordinator: Heidi Adnum

What the does P&C do?

Our P&C supports KSPS in many ways. We run the canteen and uniform shop, help improve school grounds, coordinate events, and fundraise to help purchase school resources. We also meet regularly to talk about relevant topics, listen to ideas, and make decisions.

The functions of the KSPS P&C are to:

Through fundraising, the P&C is able to contribute to the school in a number of ways. This includes the provision of learning resources, leadership and life education programs, presentation awards, and gardening and sporting equipment.

Our recent contributions to KSPS include:

We also are responsible for the operation of the uniform shop and “The Best Canteen” – our fresh and healthy canteen, open five days per week and looked after by our canteen manager, Mrs Best & Mrs Morrison. We also enjoy and support social and community events within the school.

Join our P&C

Joining the P&C is a great way to get involved with the school community and meet other parents and carers in a relaxed, inclusive environment. We welcome people of all interests, skills, and availability, and you can become a member at any point in the year.

Formally, P&C members can vote on matters raised and decisions taken at P&C meetings. Members can also become part of the executive committee. Members also receive a copy of meeting minutes regardless of meeting attendance. Membership costs $2 per year.

To be able to continue the work that we do, we need support from parents and carers. We simply couldn't do it without you! If you are interested in becoming a member but unsure about committing your time, you can rest assured that there will never be any obligation to give more time than you are comfortable with.

Can I become involved if I am not a member?

We warmly welcome all parents and carers to share their time and skills with us, if possible, whether members or not. We are appreciative of volunteer time, whether ad-hoc, one-off, or on a regular basis. Volunteers do not have to be P&C members to support our projects and donate time. Here are some examples of ways to get involved:
