Canteen

The KSPS canteen is operated by the P&C. Our mission is to provide healthy and delicious food options while maintaining relatively low prices.

Our Canteen “The Best Canteen” is open five-days a week. Mrs. Fiona Best and Mrs. Whitney Morrison are our canteen managers. Mrs. Best has been with KSPS for over 20 years and prides herself on holding "The Best Canteen" to the highest standards. She sources the freshest ingredients for our menu items, including fruits and vegetables for salad bowls, daily fresh breads for sandwiches, burgers and wraps, and makes by hand special menu items from scratch, such as pasta bolognaise. Everything is prepared fresh daily. Yum.

Order from our canteen

The Best Canteen accepts cash orders at the canteen window and online orders via Qkr! app. The cutoff time for both cash and online orders is 8.50am Monday to Friday. We use Qkr! for online orders. Download the Qkr! app for your device or use the website. (You need to sign up for a Qkr! account to place an order).

Volunteers

We are always in need of volunteers to help at the canteen. Shifts start after drop off in the morning (8:45am) and finish around 12:00pm. No experience necessary. If this is your first time volunteering in the canteen, they will run through a Food Safety orientation as well as provide a full tour of the canteen at the beginning of your first shift.

Volunteering in the canteen involves things like:

Putting lunch order stickers onto lunch bags, placing items in pie warmers/oven, preparing burgers/wraps/sandwiches/salads and bagging up lunch orders
Selling sundries and recess items to students during lunch service
Preparing foods for the following day, as well as restocking shelves and washing up dishes and sanitizing counters.

As a small thank you our canteen managers will provide you with an amazing lunch to take home. It's our way of saying thank you for helping our canteen thrive, as we cannot achieve our canteen's fresh initiatives on her own.

We ask that volunteers sign up using our online roster:

Standard Roster - Please sign up where you can. You are welcome to sign up for one shift and see if you like it. You are also welcome to sign up for repeat shifts if that suits your schedule.

Parents or close relatives who volunteer at our KSPS canteen will need to complete a Digital Working with Children declaration and do not require a WWCC volunteer number.
