Rules and policies are in place to make sure your child remains safe and well at school.
Visit the NSW Department of Education’s policy library for all current operational policies.
Our school uses the department's School Community Charter to ensure all of our communication is collaborative and respectful.
Students must attend school regularly so they can achieve their educational best and increase their career and life options.
In NSW, all children from the age of 6 are legally required to attend school or be registered for home schooling through the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA). All students must complete Year 10, or its equivalent and remain in school, employment or training until they turn 17.

As well as following the department’s operational policies, we have developed frameworks for our students in line with our school’s values and commitments.
SAFE, RESPECTFUL LEARNERS: at Kotara South, we pride ourselves on our school culture. We work hard to show our values in everything we do. This year, we have a new perspective of the Behaviour Agreement. For years we have had a whole school program for all students to have the 'right and responsibility' to be safe, be a learner and be respectful. The NSW Dept. of Education also have similar focus with their Student Charter. At the start of this term, all classes have been reviewing the Safe, Respectful Learners values initiative. See an example of this work further on in the Newsletter. These words are our commitment to action in our school. This is the high standard we hold ourselves against. I strongly encourage all our parents to review this information that was shared with you at the Meet the Teachers BBQ and discuss with your child. Another copy is attached below for your reference.

We acknowledge the traditional custodians of this land and pay our respects to the elders both past, present and future. For they hold the memories, traditions, the culture and hopes of Aboriginal Australia. We must always remember that under the concrete and asphalt, this land is, was and will always be traditional Aboriginal land.
